Julia is responsible for leading the research and sustainability initiatives at REALpac, and has taken on many roles prior to her current position of Director, Research & Sustainability. Since joining REALpac in August 2009, Julia has been responsible for the content development, research, and preparation of numerous projects and publications. Her work has included the revamping of the "Guide to Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting" and the "REALpac Green Lease Guide for Commercial Office Tenants", overseeing the production of "Water Management: A Benchmark for Canadian Office Buildings”, the "2012 Canada-wide Development Process Survey Report”, "The Contribution of the Commercial Real Estate Sector to the Canadian Economy”, and the "Canadian Institutional Commercial Debt Market Report" as well as original research titled "Best Practice CR&S Reporting in the Real Estate Industry" (published in the Journal of Sustainable Real Estate in 2010).
In addition, she develops and implements the association's various research and sustainability activities and programs while providing long-term support and strategic vision for the industry. Julia spearheaded the development of the REALpac Energy Normalization Methodology and managed the growth and implementation of the REALpac Energy Benchmarking Program including the roll-out and administration of the annual Energy Benchmarking Surveys 2010 thru 2015 and the publication of the 2010, 2012, and 2014 Energy Benchmarking Reports.
Julia Chairs both the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Committee and the Research Advisory Committee.
Prior to joining REALpac, Julia worked in the field of human genetic disease and infectious disease genotyping at the Canadian-based Tm Bioscience Corporation as well as with the US-based Luminex Corporation.
Julia is a LEED®Accredited Professional (LEED AP O+M) and a member of the CaGBC-GTC Board of Directors.
